Works perfectly…easy step by step instructions. Next time I’m in a car full of androids I won’t set off every phone by saying, OK, Google. Thank you so much!
Huge fail for me on my phone.
Nexus 6, Lollipop 5.1, Nova Launcher Prime.
Open mic+ ONLY works for me when I actually OPEN the app first. I have the settings set to always listen.
This completely and totally renders the app absolutely useless to me.
The whole reason I even downloaded it was for a better hands free function, as “Okay Google” is doing random searches anytime I’m having a conersation with someone. It’s even picked up my mom’s voice over the phone, started searching on our conversation topic (something I NEVER EVER EVER want any software to do. HUGE, MASSIVE invasion of privacy.) And she didn’t even mention “Google” at all.
I’ve found “Okay Google” very handy for hands free operation such as while driving… hit the mute button on the radio, “Okay Google, send a text to Rebecca, I’ll be home in about ten minutes.” Do you want to send this? “yes”. Unmute radio.
With Open Mic+? Not a chance of actual hands free operation for me, not since I have to manually open the app.
Uninstalling it now.
Well. Feeling dumb.
Reread my post, remembered Nova has voice settings too, and that spurred me to go through ALL voice settings and deactivate everything BUT open mic+. I thought I’d done that when prompted to during set up. I think when the first hotword I tried failed to validate, “Okay Google” was automatically re-enabled.
All is well and perfect now.
Well glad to hear that it worked you are happy with it.
must you always have it on (where the small icon is showing on the top of the phone)? does this use battery and data? please email me the answer so I don’t miss your reply, thank you.
It does uses some battery as it is constantly running in the background.
Wow, Thanks Works Great !! !

Does this really work?
I can’t get it to work on my Samsung S8. I’m pretty good at this but it just won’t work for me I’m on Android 8.0 in the UK … help please. I tried okay G okay Gee and Computer none of which would work. I switched off Google voice detection in the Google app and then went back to open Mic … I edited the okay Google line pressed okay and a notice says it’s done. Then I press play but the open Mic app crashes but I’ve tried and tried and I’ve made sure the voice detection is turned back on again in the Google app. But as I say the open Mic app crashes as soon as I press play. I’ve made sure all the permissions are allowed etc … any ideas ? Please and thank you 🙂
Wil have to look into it, will get back to as soon as possible.
A grey button has appeared on my screen how do I get rid of it
Please attach the screenshot of it, so that I could have a better look of it
